Obituary of Martin Salovin

Martin “Marty” Salovin South Fallsburg, NY July 1, 1955 ~ January 17, 2015   Martin “Marty” Salovin died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY.  He was 59.  The son of the late Irwin “Steamboat” & Helen Salovin, Martin was born in Monticello, NY and grew up in Woodridge, NY.  He attended Fallsburg High School, Cortland University and Brooklyn College.    While in his early 20’s and having a passion for working on cars, he purchased “Marty’s Service Center” in Monticello, a business he ran until his health deteriorated a few years ago.  In addition to cars, he enjoyed fishing and spent many hours on his boat.  He is survived by his brother Aaron (Sandra) of Rock Hill, NY, sister Susan of NYC, son Robert, step grandchildren Ashley and Trevor, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents and wife, Carol Salovin. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2015 at Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home 388 Broadway Monticello at 12pm. Burial will be in Workman Circle #281 cemetery Marsh Rd.
