ISAAC (JALAP) GELMAN
AVENTURA, FL FORMELY OF MONTICELLO
Isaac (Jalap) Gelman, a longtime resident of Monticello and a retired photo machine repairman for Simon Corp, died on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the Aventura Hospital Hospice Unit, Aventura, Fl. He was 95.
Jalap was born in New York, NY on August 30, 1909 the son of Morris and Jenny Meadonick Gelman. He was a longtime member of the Landfield Ave Synagogue in Monticello.
He is survived by his wife Selma Pace Gelman at home in Aventura, Fla, his daughter Carolee Smith and her husband Robert L. of Dewitt, NY, his son Alan Gelman and his wife Pat of New York, NY, his two sisters; Eva Safran of Flushing and Lillian Machson of Florida, and his brother Manny Gellman and his wife Sally of North Carolina, and his three grandchildren; Jana & Todd Helmrich, Shayna & Michael Postman, and Marni Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
Jalap was predeceased by his brother Samuel Gelman.
Funeral services were held, Monday March 14, 2005 at 1pm in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc. 388 Broadway Monticello, NY. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiated. Burial was in the Landfield Ave Synagogue Cemetery Monticello.
Shiva will be at the home of Carolee and Robert Smith of Dewitt, NY thru Friday afternoon.
