Obituary of Yvette Botwinick Nissenbaum

Yvette Botwinick Nissenbaum, formerly of the area, passed away on June 24, 2018. Yvette was born on June 29, 1939 in Kingston, NY to Benjamin Botwinick and Ida Topkin Botwinick.  Her early childhood was spent happily on the family farm in Greenfield Park.  The family moved to Ellenville where she spent her teenage years and was a graduate of Ellenville High School.  Yvette worked as a bookkeeper for Channel Master and SPD Construction prior to retirement in Delray Beach, FL.

Vetty was known to all as a caring, loving person who spent endless hours listening and providing support to many.  She shared her love and time selflessly and without reservation.  Her commitment to her family is her legacy and it is seen in her children, grandchildren, and everyone she touched.  She taught by example and provided us with tools to live our lives, to share our love and time and to support each other. 

Yvette was predeceased by her parents, sisters Edith Botwinick Sharon and Sarah Botwinick Greenberger, brother Joseph Botwinick, husband Sol Nissenbaum and life partner Erwin Gutkin.

Yvette is survived by her son Allan Nissenbaum and his wife Theresa, daughter Amy Abbott and her husband Daniel, grandsons Jeremy Salvo and his partner Tiffany French, Jesse Nissenbaum and his wife Courtney, Elliot Abbott and Aaron Abbott.  She is also survived her brother Henry Botwinick and his wife Jenny, stepson John Nissenbaum, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Congregation Anshe Tzadyik, 186 Canal Street, Ellenville, NY 12428. Burial will immediately follow at the synagogue cemetery, Route 209 in Wawarsing. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute or the charity of your choice.

Vetty is and will forever be sorely missed by everyone she touched.
