Obituary of Frances "Fran" Rosa
Frances Rosa, 88, of Monticello, NY, died peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Valley View Nursing in Goshen, NY. Frances was born October 18, 1930 in Bronx, New York. She was one of four children born to the late Harry and Nadia (Grossman) Sherman.
Fran was a longtime resident of Monticello where she lived with her beloved husband “Moishe” and two sons Albert and Scott Rosa. Fran worked as a medical secretary for many years to Dr. Alan Jaffee, Ophthalmologist in Monticello.
Family and friends were Fran’s passion, joy and delight. Her home was always the gathering place whether for her NYC friends on weekends, or for her children any day of the week. In addition to being a great cook, Fran loved to knit and was an avid reader and a longtime member of the Monticello Public Library where you could set your watch by her weekly patronage.
Fran is survived by her cherished sons, Albert Rosa and Dr. Scott Rosa, both of Monticello; ex-daughter-in-law (a/k/a “her daughter”), Deborah Manley of Buffalo, NY, her sister Shirley Sherman of New York, New York, Shlomoh Sherman of Euclid, Ohio, grandson David Rosa of Mahopac, great grandchildren CJ, Ryan and Caroline of Mahopac and her great niece Zviah Bittman of Brooklyn, NY. Fran was predeceased by her husband and one brother Bernie Sherman of Bronx, NY.
Services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY followed by burial at the Brotherhood Cemetery, Thompson Road, Monticello.
The family asks that donations, in lieu of flowers be made to the charity of one’s choice.
