Dear Sylvia,
Please accept my heartfelt albeit belated condolences. I had no idea. I just tried calling you to see about our "annual summer visit" and found the phone disconnected. In searching to see if I had the correct number I came across this notice.
You know how much I love Carl and you. Having worked for Carl as a summer law intern inspires and influences me for the better to this day. His and your encouragement continue to motivate me. The lasting, deep friendship we all shared, with my beloved mother, Sophie, our numerous dinners and discussions, will always remain a cherished part of my heart.
Carl was one of those special people who truly made a positive difference in this world - with his fundamental decency, great intellect, and brilliant lawyering. You and your family remain blessed to be able, always, to call him husband, father, grandfather. I know how much he loved you all. I remain grateful to be able to call Carl friend. He lives on in you and all of us, as he lives on in and watches over his loved ones from Gad Eden, the next realm.
Sylvia, I would love to speak with you. I do not have any number to use to reach you. So, if you receive this message please call at your convenience: 917-836-3272, or text a number where I may reach you. Take care of yourself.
Love,
Alan.

Dear Sylvia,
Please accept my sincere condolences upon the passing of your husband, Carl. My family lived in Mountaindale for many years. My parents, Bernice and Gil, and myself, were good friends of your parents and Al and Harriet. May warm and nurturing memories help sustain you and yours now and always.

I am so sorry, Sylvia, Karen, Beth . . . I am grateful for the detailed and loving obituary information. Whenever I saw Carl, at one or another of (my) Aunt Barbara’s extended family reunions, he was as gracious and warm with a humorous edge or at least good humor, always! My deepest sympathies. I know my father, his first cousin, thought so highly of him. Please keep me posted, when you are able, on your own lives. Warmly, Diane (and Abraham Brody McWilliams, my son)
