Laurence Morganstein

Obituary of Laurence Morganstein

Larry “Moe” Morganstein passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. Comfortably and peacefully, he spent his last moments with the ones who not only cared for him, but loved him dearly.

Larry was born on March 29, 1940 to two devoted parents, Edward and Martha Morganstein. As a lifetime resident of Monticello, he attended local schools and started his career at the Concord Hotel.  Larry was the dedicated and committed owner of the bar, Leon and Chezzy’s. It was here that his three children enjoyed spending their time playing pool and listening to the old time jukebox. Larry also worked as a bartender at Frankie Green’s and Rockys, which was known for having the best Italian food in town. While he had an avid knowledge of all sports, he thoroughly enjoyed spending his time both watching and playing baseball, basketball, and football.

Larry leaves behind his three loving and successful children, Lori Morganstein Farina of Middletown, NY, Michael Morganstein and his wife Lisa Corwin Morganstein of Goshen, NY, and Tracey Morganstein Toth and her husband James Toth of Palm Coast, FL. You can clearly see the beautiful role he played as a father to all three. As they went on to have their own children; Laurence furthered his love to his six grandchildren, Jacob Morganstein, Maxwell Morganstein, Rachel Farina, Madalyn Farina, Christian Toth, and Kennedy Toth, his nephew Eddie Morganstein , nieces Marla Rasnick and Meredith Villchek, and sister-in-laws Eileen Morganstein and Lynn Rubenstein.

Larry was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Morganstein and his brother, David Morganstein.
