Eileen Casey posted a condolence
Dear David,
I am deeply saddened to hear of your Mom's death. I have so many happy memories of her during the years that we taught together at the Cooke School. Her positive attitude and great sense of humor made her a person who was so much fun to be with.
Her incredible courage as she faced her illness was truly an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was so very proud of you, Alicia, and Erica.
She was very proud of all of your accomplishments and would tell me about you whenever I saw her.
I can still clearly remember the first day you came to Kindergarten. She was so proud of you and was such
supportive mother from the very beginning.
She will always be remembered in Monticello as a caring, dedicated teacher and a very special person. The Monticello Board of Education dedicated a moment of silence in her memory at their meeting last evening (March 23).
Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.
With much love,
Eileen Casey, Supt. of Schools, Monticello Central School District

I so remember when we first moved up to Monticello and Julie had Mrs. Appel for second grade. We felt sooo lucky. Julie had come from the city, and was very nervous about beginning her academic career in a new school. Mrs. Appel made the transition so easy for her. Her warmth and compassion will never be forgotten. Knowing Ruth over the years was a pleasure for me as well. She was always friendly and fun to talk to. What a shame her life was cut short. Sincerest sympathy to David, and the rest of the family.
