Obituary of Seymour Kantrowitz
SEYMOUR SHOLOM KANTROWITZ
PEORIA, AZ AND WOODRIDGE, NY
Seymour (Sholom) Kantrowitz, a lifelong resident of Woodridge, N.Y. and the former owner and operator of Kantrowitzs garage in Woodridge, died at home in Peoria,Arizona. He was 83.
Sholom was born in Woodridge on March 28, 1922 the son of Nathan and Bertha Goldstone Kantrowitz. Sholom enlisted in the Army Air Force before WWII and served for five years, endinghis service as a crew chief for a B29 group. His garages in Woodridge and Rock Hill were for decades a gathering place for family and local "schmoozers" where Sholom held forth with stories and jokes. He was a Past Master of the Fallsburg Masonic Lodge #1122, a Village Trustee of Woodridge, and a pillar of Congregation Ohave Sholomin Woodridge, N.Y. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived his beloved wife Shirley, of 62 years at home in Peoria, and was the loving father of Barbara Antillon of Mexico City, and Cynthia Dallas of Phoenix, Arizona. FondFather-in-law of Armando and Kenneth. Cherished grandfather of Lisa, Nina, Joshua, Diana, Ian, and Matthew, and great grandfather of Jenna, Ilan, Ryan,and Dana. Brother of Leon Kantrowitz and Isaac Kantrowitz and his wife Gloria of Woodridge, N.Y., William Kantrowitz and his wife Ruth, and Sally Beer and her husband Leon of N.Y.C, and a fond uncle too many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at Congregation Ohave Sholom in Woodridge, NY at 3pm. Rabbi Irving Goodman will officiate. Burial will be in Ohave Sholom (Woodridge Synagogue) Cemetery Marsh Rd. Glen Wild, NY, with military honors. Fallsburg Masonic Lodge #1122 will hold services at 3pm at Congregation Ohave Sholom.
