Obituary of Linda Wolff

Linda B. Wolff, MS, MPS, APRN, BC Middletown, N.Y. Linda B. Wolff of Middletown, N.Y., a family therapist and registered nurse, a 33 year resident, died at home with her family by her side on Friday June 24, 2005, at the age 57. The daughter of the late Irving and Millie Plumser, she was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on February 6, 1948. Linda is survived by George R. Gunther, with whom she shared her life; her sons Michael Wolff, ESQ and his wife, Melissa, of Middletown, N.Y.; Russell Wolff, MA, PSY.S, Doctoral candidate and his wife, Cara, of Bellerose, N.Y.; Grandchildren Sarah and Joshua Wolff; Sister, Francine Ducker and the late Dr. Marvin Ducker, of Middletown, N.Y.; Niece, Allison Ducker, and Nephew, Evan Ducker of Middletown, N.Y.; Cousin, Les Melzak of New Jersey, and many devoted and loving friends. Linda was a Certified Clinical Specialist for children and adolescents & had her own private practice as a family therapist in Goshen and White Plains, N.Y. She was an Adjunct Professor at Pace Universitys Pleasantville campus; was a Clinical Trainer; family therapist; and director of nursing at Childrens Village, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Linda also spent a year working for the Canterbury District Health Board in Christchurch, New Zealand as a Clinical Trainer & Family Therapist. Linda served as a Nursing Care Coordinator at the F.D.R. Veterans Administration Hospital, Montrose, N.Y. where she was responsible for clinical and administrative care of a 39 bed acute Psychiatric Unit. Other positions that Linda held were Director of Intermediate Care facility for the Orange County Association of Retarded Citizens, Newburgh, N.Y.; Psychiatric staff nurse adolescent unit, Craig House Hospital, Beacon, N.Y.; Director of Adult Daycare Program, Park Manor, Middletown, N.Y.; Supervising Nurse Group Homes, Pius XII Youth and Family Service, Middletown, N.Y.; Psychiatric Nurse, Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen, N.Y.; and Pediatric Nurse, Flushing Hospital, Flushing, N.Y. Linda was also a member of the Nurses Honor Society Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, American Psychiatric Nurse Association, Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, and The Association for Play Therapy. Linda was one of the most remarkable people you could ever meet. She was a devoted mother, always putting her children first, an adoring grandmother who made sure that Sarah and Joshua always had fun when they were with her. Linda was the best sister anyone could have, always there as a protector and advisor. She was also a wonderful daughter. Lindas friends were as dedicated to her as she was to them. You have to be a real friend to have friends and they were there for each other through thick and thin. Graveside funeral services will be held today, Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Temple Beth Sholom Cemetery, Spanktown Road, Florida, NY. Rabbi Andrea Myers will officiate Shivah will be observed at the home of George R. Gunther, in Middletown.
