Obituary of Alvin Hillel Shoop

Callicoon Center, NY

Alvin Shoop a resident of Callicoon Center, NY, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at home. He was 78 years old. The son of Simeon and Huddie Weinstein Shoop, he was born on December 23, 1943, in Worcester, MA.

Al was a man of his word, honorable, and a mischievous kid at heart always looking for the next adventure. He greeted everyone with his big warm smile and gave extraordinary care to his pets, especially his dog Monk who needed constant help in his last year. Al was a whiz at whatever he put his hand to. He could fix a car or anything mechanical, create complex computer programs for ConEd and other companies over his lifetime. And his bread, pizza, pies, spanikopita--you name it--Al was a master in the kitchen! He held a master’s degree in Philosophy and Computer Science.

Al is survived by his loving wife Raizi for whom he was a rock and the love of her life; his sisters Miriam Bat-Ami and Deborah Pizante; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 1:00pm at the Jeffersonville Hebrew Cemetery, State Route 52, Youngsville, NY.

Memorial contributions in the name of Alvin Shoop may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
