Obituary of Meyer Kaplan

MEYER KAPLAN WOODRIDGE, NY Meyer Kaplan, entered into eternal rest at home with his family on Sunday, January 28, 2007. He was 84. Meyer was the son of Hyman and Ida Kaplan and was born on June 8, 1922, in Harris, NY. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy. Meyer served during World War II in the 3rd division Marines at Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands, and China. He and his wife, Dorothy founded K-Brand Farms and Egg University in Glen Wild. Meyer received the first United Egg Producers Government Relations Award. He was a member of the Inter-County board of Directors and served terms as its President. He was a Commander of the Woodridge Memorial Post of the VFW. Meyer was also a Friend of the Department of Agriculture and Animal Science of Cornell University, was well as Committeeman and member of the Agriculture Program Committee of the Cornell Cooperative Extension. He also was member of Congregation Anshei Glen Wild. He is survived by his four sons; Robert Kaplan and his wife, Merryl of Glen Wild, Bruce Kaplan and his wife Sondra of Haines City, Fla, Phil Kaplan and his wife Anne of Glen Wild and Karl Kaplan and his wife Ellen of Clifton Park. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Heather Margulies and her husband, Allen, Amy Kaplan, Alan Kaplan and his wife Dawn, Heather Marin and her husband, Steven, Edward Kaplan and his wife Eryn, Jamie Kaplan, Randi Kaplan, Nicole Feller, Rachel Feller, Matthew Kaplan and Joshua Kaplan and his great grandchildren; Sierra Kaplan, Kaylee Feller, Steven Marin, and Samuel Margulies and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at 2pm in Congregation Anshei Glen Wild Cemetery. Rabbi Irving Goodman will officiate. Shiva will be held at the home of Robert and Merryl Kaplan in Glen until Friday, February 2. Memorial donations in Meyers name may be made to the Hebrew Day School of Sullivan and Ulster Counties Kiamesha Lake, NY 12751 or the Mountaindale Ambulance Corps, Mountaindale, NY 12763.
