Obituary of Alex Ballan

ALEX M. BALLAN Chevy Chase, MD formerly of Ellenville, NY Alex M. Ballan, of Chevy Chase MD and formerly of Ellenville NY and Lauderhill Florida, passed away on Sunday, May 20 after complications following elective surgery in Maryland. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was 85. Alex was born in New York City on October 21, 1921 the son of Hyman and Fanny Balansky. He worked for Channel Master Corporation and Bio Energy Systems in Ellenville NY after moving to the Ellenville area in 1954. He was active member in Congregation Ezrath Israel and was very involved in the Jewish War Veterans, Bnai Brith and the Shawangunk Country Club. He was a World War II veteran having flown in B24 Bombers based in Italy Alex was predeceased by his wife Rhoda Targove and daughter Margaret. He is survived by: his children Barry Ballan (Shelli) of Paramus NJ and Tracey Rattner (Steven) of Potomac MD, grandchildren Marissa and Brian Ballan and Michelle and Jaclyn Rattner and step grandchildren Jennifer and Lindsay Abramowitz.. Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, May 22 at 2pm in Congregation Ezrath Israel Rabbi Eisner Square, Ellenville, NY. Rabbi Moshe Frank will officiate. Burial will be in Ezrath Israel Cemetery Route 209 Wawarsing. Donations in memory of Alex can be made to the Congregation Ezrath Israel, Rabbi Eisner Square, Ellenville, NY 12428.
