Obituary of Aina Litwak

Monticello, NY - Formerly of Liberty, NY

Aina Litwak, a resident of Monticello, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2024, at Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility. She was 89. The daughter of Charles and Lily Puspurs, Aina was born on August 28, 1935, in Riga, Latvia.

 As a teenager, Aina moved to Liberty, New York, where she met her future husband, Jack Litwak. They lovingly raised their 8 children on a chicken farm on Old Ferndale Road. For over 20 years, Aina worked as an aide at ARC in Liberty, caring for the physically and developmentally disabled. She loved flowers, reading, collecting, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

 Aina is survived by her sister; Astrida Stalte, and children; Iris Barashi, Rita McBride, Ira Litwak, Sandy Ungar, Sherri Litwak, David Litwak, Kim Baylis, and Michael Litwak, her 21 grandchildren, many, many great-grandchildren, and 3 great, great-grandchildren, including the newest born the morning of her death.  

 Aina was predeceased by her loving husband Jack Litwak, beautiful children Ivy Litwak and Robin Litwak, and her grandson Dustin Baylis. 

 A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1:00pm at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701. Interment will immediately follow at the Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue Cemetery, Hysana Road, Liberty, NY.  

Memorial contributions in Aina Litwak’s name may be made to the Landfield Avenue Synagogue and The Hebrew Day School.
