Obituary of Ira Martin Lipsky
IRA MARTIN LIPSKY
LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY
Ira Martin Lipsky, of Loch Sheldrake, passed away early Sunday Morning, June 15 at Catskill Regional Medical Center.
Ira was an alumnus of Fallsburg Central High School, Cornell University and the University of Maine. He was a plethora of information useful and otherwise. His sense of humor was legendary and when it came to his brothers and nephews it was no holds barred. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 25, Ira dedicated his life to understanding the disease and helping others also facing the challenges of MS.
Ira was an avid sportsman, boxing fan and history buff. One of the things he loved to do with his daughter was play Alternate Universe Trivia, where he would ask her questions she could only answer if she had access to an alternate universe.
Beloved son of Arline and the late Bernard Lipsky, brother to Steven and wife Pam Lipsky, Allan and wife Erin Lipsky, and Sandra and husband Aaron Salovin, father to Alison Mara Lipsky, a criminal defense attorney in Philadelphia. Ira was also survived by his nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Ashley, Adam, Megan, Scott, Tyler, and Rebecca; grand niece Ava Isabelle, his aunt Shirley, cousins and many friends.
Ira touched the lives of so many. He taught us that it is important to live everyday as though it were your last. To care for others despite the challenges you may face and above all else to cherish your family and friends for they are the true measure of your work.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 17th at 11:00 am in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodbourne Synagogue Cemetery Marsh Rd Glen Wild, NY.
The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Arline Lipsky in Hurleyville until Friday.
