Obituary of Stephen D. Wahrhaftig

Stephen D. Wahrhaftig Monticello, NY Stephen D. Wahrhaftig of Monticello, a retired high school history teacher who taught in the Bronx, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 82. The son of the late Hy L. Wahrhaftig and Sophie L. Fishman Wahrhaftig, he was born August 2, 1927 in Monticello. He was a graduate of New York University and Harvard law School. He was predeceased by his twin brother: Joseph; his sister: Bernice Kimmel; and a nephew: Jonathan Kimmel. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, at 9 a.m. at the Landfield Ave. Synagogue Cemetery, Thompson Road in Monticello, with Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Landfield Avenue Synagogue. Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home of Monticello.
