Dorothy Krongel, a longtime Jeffersonville resident, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. She was 89.
The daughter of Max and Esther Gerber Siegel, she was born April 16, 1920 in New York City. Moving to Parksville, New York as an infant, she graduated from Liberty High School and attended Hunter College.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, with whom she owned and operated the Krongel Agency, an insurance and real estate firm. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Jeffersonville Synagogue.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Abraham Siegel and her sister, Augusta Ruderman. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara and her husband, Edwin Hamilton; her son, Michael, and his wife Kathy; her grandchildren, Allison and David Krongel; several nieces and nephews; as well as many caring friends, and neighbors.
Friends may call from noon to 1:00pm at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 5068 State Route 52 in Jeffersonville, NY. Interment will follow immediately at the Jeffersonville Hebrew Cemetery on State Route 52 in Youngsville.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Jeffersonville Ambulance Corps, 49 Callicoon Road, Jeffersonville, NY, or to the charity of one's choice.
