Phyllis Lea Wiener, a devoted family woman and long time resident of Liberty, died in the afternoon hours on Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Hearth Stone Assisted Living Facility in Arlington, Texas. She was 81.
The daughter of the late Elwood Green and Sylvia Landau Green, Phyllis was born in Liberty on March 6, 1928. Spending the bulk of her life in Liberty, Sylvia was a proud home maker and enjoyed her family dearly. She was a member of the Ahavath Israel Synagogue in Liberty, and spent much of her life volunteering her time in local hospitals, both in Sullivan County and in Texas.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Jay Wiener, and his wife Cindi, of Long Island, NY; her daughter, Paula Lepire, of Arlington, TX; her sister, Beth Pierce, of Baltimore, MD; her Grandson, Robbie Lepire, of Longview, TX; and her 2 great grandsons, Ryan and Sam Lepire, both of Long view, TX.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Samuel Benjamin Wiener on June 26, 2004. Phyllis was also predeceased by her son in law, Robert Lepire.
Graveside services will be held (today) Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 11:00am at the Ahavath Israel Synagogue Cemetery, Hysanna Road in Liberty, with Rabbi Marvin Goldman Officiating.
