Obituary of Joseph K. Schwartz

Joseph Karl Schwartz, the former president of Schwartz Insurance & Real Estate Co. in Ellenville, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at his home in Fair Lawn, NJ. He was 90. The son of the late Abraham Schwartz and Rose Weinbaum Schwartz, he was born April 3, 1920 in Ellenville. He was the widower of his beloved wife and business partner of 40 years, Beatrice K. Schwartz, who predeceased him in 1993. A veteran of the United States Army serving in England during World War II, he was a past president of Congregation Ezrath Israel in Ellenville. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his three daughters: Marilyn Yamner & her husband Bernie of Fair Lawn, NJ, Barbara Mallach of Mahwah, NJ and Stephanie Rabinowitz & her husband Arnie of Tenafly, NJ; a brother: Dr. J. Jerry Shaw & his wife Josie of Canoga Park, CA; 8 grandchildren: Andy, Steven, Jennifer, Laurie, Rachael, Michael, Erica, and Risa; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother: Irving. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Monday, May 31 at 12:00noon at the Ezrath Israel Cemetery, Route 209 in Wawarsing with Rabbi Moshe Frank officiating.
