Obituary of Sylvia Frances Appelbaum
Syliva F. Appelbaum
91yrs
Of Liberty, NY
Sylvia Appelbaum, (nee Frieman) at age 91, of Liberty, New York, passed away quietly on June 11, in Cresskill, New Jersey. Sylvia was a resident of Liberty for more than 50 years, where she loved raising her family with Sidney, her devoted husband. She was a community leader and engaged citizen who served the PTA, Women's Hospital Auxiliary, Congregation Ahavath Israel Sisterhood, and the Mental Health Board, among her many other contributions.
Sylvia was a true renaissance woman: she loved history, the arts, literature, music, good conversation and company. She was an avid gardener, superb artist, and stellar hostess, as she challenged herself to be a better golfer, bridge player and pianist.
Her elegance, grace and attention to detail were evident in all she undertook.
She is remembered by her devoted son Joel, wife Michelle and son Ed, and by her loving daughter Lynn, husband Joe, and daughters Shosha and Elana.
Sylvia made the world a more beautiful and better place. Her legacy lives on though the lives she touched. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 13, at noon, at the Congretation Ahavath Israel, Chestnut Street, in Liberty, New York, with Rabbi Goodman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ahavath Israel Synagogue Cemetery, in Liberty.
