Obituary of James Wexler
James Wexler
Of Monticello, New York
January 17, 1946-March 2, 2012
66 years old
Let us sing of James Wexler's life to the sound of Clark Kessinger's fiddle, William Kapell's Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 2, and Hindesmith's Mathis der Maler Symphony.
A musician, a photographer, a Rolling Stones fan, and a gentleman.
From his first day in Brooklyn on the 17th of January 1946, on to Monti High, then to Franklin & Marshall, NYU, and to the gathering of fiddlers at Galax, Virginia.
As we pause to Hindesmith's poem, we recall his love of the Correctone Stringband and his smile at the Shandelee Music Festival upon the mountaintop.
His niece Nancy, nephew Doug, sister-in-law Gigi, and brother David will sing his name on spring sunrises and fall sunsets. April 15 will be his remembrance in Tucson with Ed Abbey humor and foot tapping Irish reels. Time is a dream, and so let us put the chairs on the tables, toast one more time, and leave the door open for the songs of tomorrow and yesterday. For this time, Jim is playing with Earl Scruggs and laughing with Van Gogh while the stars dance around the night's canvas.
James Wexler, January 17, 1946 to March 2, 2012. Rest easy gentle prince.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home of Monticello.
