I was just looking through some Mountaindale sites online and came across Sadie's obituary.
I remember Sadie as a pillar of the community as I was growing up. She was always so nice to my Mom, Lil Shur, who worked on Hadassah fundraisers with her.
My thoughts and prayers to Gil and his family and Phyllis and her family. All from Mountaindale will always be family to me!

Dear Gilly, Bobbi, Linda and Leni,
Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.
In my haste to put into words my thoughts about your dear mother, grandmother and aunt,
I used some words which were incorrect. Since Sadie deserves a good send-off,
here is my abridged version.
"To My Dear Friend, Sadie"...
How do you begin to define the life of Sadie Kraf? In the 53 years that my family knew and loved her - since we moved to Mountaindale in 1955 - Sadie always had a special place in our hearts.
Her outstanding efforts to raise funds for the Mountaindale-Woodridge Hadassah were unparalleled.
Although she was not a 'religious' person, she truly upheld the spirit of 'Yiddishkeit' throughout her life. Not only did she make donations on a personal and organizational level, she did so selflessly. Sadie was a stalwart relative and friend. Although she was 39 years older than me, our friendship was grand. I will miss her stories about Mountaindale and all the folks who lived there. I visited her this past October
and took a picture of her. Although her face was drawn and tired, her eyes still shone with her inner beauty.
Now she is at peace with her 'Joey' and her relatives and friends who have passed before. I can just see her setting up mah-jong card parties in heaven with my mom, Bernice, Helen Novack, Helen Kline, etc. "Sadie rest in peace my friend and say hello to my parents and all the other folks from Mountaindale."
Love always,
Your friend,
Richard Cohen
