Obituary of Frances H Gleich

Frances Gleich, a longtime area resident, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 88. She was the daughter of the late Mollie and Louis Kriegman, and born in Brooklyn, NY on November 30, 1919. Frances was retired from the US Postal Service where she was a clerk at the Kiamesha Post Office for many years. She was very active with Sullivan County's ARC's Rose Valley Senior Center. There, shevolunteered countless hours together with her late husband of 62 years, Larry, who predeceased her in March of 2005. Frances also expended much energy with the Sullivan County Office of the Aging Senior Citizen Legislative Committee. Frances has received many awards and citations commemorating the time and effort she spent volunteering her time. Her greatest joy was her family. To them, and to all who knew her, she leaves a legacy of smiles, lots of laughterand an abundance of love. Survivors include two daughters, Paula Seigel of Poughkeepsie, NY, Lucy Gleich Rothman and her fiance Richard Schwartz of New Paltz, NY, a son Stuart Gleich and his wife Mary of Monticello, NY, her grandchildren; David Rothman of Albany, NY, Marleen and Brent Schwartz of Berlin, NJ, Allison and Peter Hilliard of Roslyn, PA and six great-grandchildren; Benjamin and Elyse Schwartz and Elizabeth, Nicholas, Jonathan and Alexander Hilliard. She is also survived by one sister, Sylvia Freedman of Weston, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will take place today, Friday, April 11, 2008, at 11am in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery in Liberty, NY. Rabbi M. Medwin will officiate.
